- Help! I have a gvp accelerator card for an A1200 here on my service bench.
-
- It won't recognize a perfectly good 4 meg 64 pin GVP sim in either socket.
-
- Running the program "addmem" as a memory tester, it gets to random places,
- kicks out a bad memory at $xxxxxxxx error and exits. The quitting point is
- of course on a 4 byte boundary cause thats the granularity of a 32 bit
- stick of memory. It also errors when the msnibble of the last byte is 8+
- about 90% of the time. It may find the error in the first 500 bytes, or may
- trundle thru nearly the full 4 megs before finding it. The one time I got
- it to add 1/2 meg of it, the machine was instantly frozen and had to be
- rebooted.
-
- Looking at it with a 100mhz dual trace scope, it looks as if its being
- refreshed ok, and when the addmem proggy is running, the logic levels look
- *very* good. I think it may be jumper related, but the book and disk that
- came with this used board are for a GVP A1230+ Turbo card, and the card
- itself is a "JAWS II". Needless to say the physical layout differs enough
- to make me doubt that jumper J4 (or any other) is still what the book says
- it is.
-
- This board was rather extensively damaged in the area of the fpu when it
- arrived, due to the fpu being pried out with a very sharp object, however I
- have that surface trace damage repaired, and a 25 mhz 68882 positively
- flies at 40 mhz thru the fmath tests in AIBB. Doesn't even get warm
- either.
-
- Does anyone have the book and disk that actually goes with a GVP "JAWS II"
- for the A1200? The programs on this install disk all report that "this is
- the wrong hardware" and exit, leaving you a screen to close.
-
- Help! Did I say "Please"? Oh, yeah, just now. Thanks
